Mendoza

Mendoza sidewalk sign for personalized winesMendoza is Argentina’s wine capital. In the western part of the country, it’s centrally located in the middle of all the wineries and is an ideal base for exploring these on one of the many wine tours.

Although a city of around a million people, it has a small town feel with its relaxed pace and many tree- and fountain-filled plazas. Mendoza is also in an area known for it’s natural beauty, near the eastern edge of the Andes. Consequently, many sports such as whitewater rafting, skydiving, horseriding, etc., can be found here.

About admin

I've been fascinated by world cultures all my life. I tried to teach myself Spanish at age 9, but that didn't work so well. I voraciously read books on all areas of the world as a teenager. I grew up to study languages and cultures in college, and have travelled in over 50 countries exploring what is unique and essential to each culture.

Do you speak Spanish? Is it very difficult to get around Argentina and Uruguay for non-Spanish speakers?

Yes, I speak Spanish. English is widely spoken, though. So you can get by with English, especially in the tourist areas/large cities.
